our sinister backstory
BrewDog Canal Winchester Halloween window signage in 2019.
Starting in 2004, Todd took great pride in decorating his yard for Halloween every year. Our front yard was the first stop for kids every Trick-Or-Treat night! Each year his set-up became more elaborate and detailed. Todd used a mix-match of store-bought props, homemade props, and some that were a combination of the two. After several years, Todd expanded into the garage, making a mini walk-through - some years even including a fake elevator that you had to ride to get to your destination. Fueled by a relentless dedication to perfecting his craft, Todd immersed himself in the art of decoration, innovation, and continual learning about the haunt industry. Todd transformed his passion into the establishment of Sinister Signs in 2009. In 2010, Todd's home display was featured in the Columbus Dispatch (and again in 2019)! Since then, our family has worked to bring Sinister Signs to premier haunt industry tradeshows and local markets across the mid-west, showcasing a commitment to unparalleled creativity and craftsmanship. In 2020, Todd and one of his handmade creations can be found in the June edition of 614 Magazine. In 2019 and 2022, Todd worked with local rock band Bobaflex to help their visions come to life with custom props for several music videos. In 2023, Sinister Signs was honored with the prestigious Vendor Excellence Award at TransWorld, cementing our commitment to delivering exceptional quality and creativity.
